US says there will not be any changes to the Middle East military despite tensions in Lebanon

Reuters, WASHINGTON - On Thursday, the Pentagon informed reporters that its military posture in the Middle East remained unchanged. According to a Reuters release on Friday, September 20, 2024, this is the case.

Israel has been held accountable by Lebanon and Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran, for the bombs that left roughly 3,000 people injured and 37 dead. Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said at a press conference, "I do not see any change in the forces at Eastern Med or the headquarters it is responsible for."

According to the Pentagon, any strikes that incite hostilities in the Middle East will be ineffective. When questioned about his phone calls with his Israeli counterpart, Singh stated: "We never want to see conflict spread. Defense Minister Lloyd Austin has always reiterated the need for regional de-escalation."

Israel has not yet responded to the attack directly, despite security sources claiming that it might have been carried out by operatives. The spy is from Mossad.
