On April 17, SEOUL (Yonhap) -- According to Seoul's Navy, a trilateral missile defense drill involving South Korea, the United States, and Japan got underway on Monday in the East Sea's international seas as part of increased efforts to strengthen deterrence against North Korean threats.
Following Pyongyang's provocative actions, such as the launch of an allegedly solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile last Thursday, the three countries have been tightening their security cooperation.
Amid North Korean threats, South Korea, the United States, and Japan conduct missile defense exercises in the East Sea.

Following Pyongyang's provocative actions, such as the alleged launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile last Thursday, the three countries have been tightening their security cooperation.
The last time the three nations engaged in such a joint missile defense drill was in February.
They decided to perform regular missile defense and anti-submarine drills to confront the threats from the North at their senior-level defense talks, known as the Defense Trilateral Talks, last week.
