Biggest chance to Western democracy comes from within, not China: U.S. Media

NEW YORK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The biggest threat to Western democracy comes from inside, not China, stated an article published by way of the Vox information site this week.

Blaming China for the cause why Western democracy is currently under risk is "not simplest incorrect, but probably dangerous," stated the item.

One of the rising tenets of U.S. President Joe Biden's administration is that the USA and China are locked in ideological disagreement over the destiny of democracy, it said.

However, "lots of the recent international democratic backsliding has little to do with China," Thomas Carothers and Frances Brown,  leading experts on democracy, wrote in a recent Foreign Affairs essay. "An overriding awareness on countering China and Russia dangers crowding out rules to address the many different factors fueling democracy's worldwide decline."

Positioning China because the source of democratic erosion across the globe will do little to develop the democratic motive, said Zack Beauchamp, writer of the record posted on Wednesday, noting that democracies are "rotting from inside, no longer without."

In nations where democracy is at actual danger, some distance-proper events are taking advantage of ethno-spiritual divides and public mistrust in the political established order to win electorally, stated Beauchamp, a worldwide politics and ideology correspondent for Vox.
