Putin launches construction of recent warships amid tensions



MOSCOW, Aug 24 (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday launched the development of recent nuclear submarines and other warships, part of a sweeping army modernization effort amid tensions with the West.


Speaking in a video name, Putin gave orders for 2 nuclear submarines armed with intercontinental ballistic missiles together with  diesel-powered submarines and two corvettes at shipyards in Severodvinsk, St. Petersburg and Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
